PAD CHALLENGE Day 29 In the Twilight

PAD Challenge Day 29

In the twilight

Of the morning bright

Clouds of lace

Snowy white

Float above

Heavens gate

Sounds of silence

While we wait

No trumpets

Loud horns blown

The path is set

A gentle way home

Nurse Mary

Says all is well

The patient is resting

Easy now

Eyes focused Far away

Still she lingers

One more day

Slowly, gently

She gives up control

Letting go

Letting be

No regrets

In the refrain

Just a closer

Walk with thee

Magpie Tales #93 The Little Red Sofa

Magpie Tales #93

The Little Red Sofa

Alone on sidewalk

In a town unfamilar

I pulled the red valvet

Close around me

No one to the right

No one left

The street is empty

Shabby and worn

Abandoned

Around three

Shadows creep

On the dirty wall

Behind me

I’ll just wait for you here

Leaving me

Was a mistake

Once a pround possion

Now free for anyone to take

PAD Challenge Day 19 Color as Things

PAD Challenge Day 19 – prompt: Write a suspicious mind poem.

A dark place to enter

The message clearly written

And posted

Could be missed

In a language

Unfamiliar

There was a time

When color was

A devine alphate

When Van Gogh

Wrote letters in French

His color adjectives Rarely agreed with

The nouns they qualified

When read as “things”

They were more real

Then the things they qualified

PAD Challenge Day 17

PAD  Challenge Day 17- prompt: Write a poem that reveals something.

Revealing and Concealing

Sitting quietly upon the shelf

Bound up tight

Golden letters stamped

Upon your cover

Spanish leather

Browns in sixty different shades

Red as rich as time itself

Calling softly

Color of the blood

Secrets written in

Between every word

Printed neatly on the page

Bound by hand

Tell the story

Of a man

Birth to death

Catch it if you can

PAD Challenge Day 16

PAD Challenge Day 16 – prompt:  Once upon a _____________

Once Upon a Rolling Stone

On deck the captain

Spied the lighthouse bright

The sea a light brilliant blue

Yellow lemon-drop sky

Surrounds the sun

A big red blood shot eye

Balanced on the horizon

Far as the eye ca n see

We walked upon the shore

To picnic in the shade

Of one lone pine tree

Which welcomed us to dine

Beneath its branches full

Little boat black and white

The bow pointed out to sea

Tied to the shore

As I am tied to thee

PAD Challenge Day 15

PAD Challenge Day 15 – prompt: love poem.

Mid November Morning

Frost glistens on the sage

You hold me close

The warmth of your kiss

Lingers upon my lips

We spoke softly

Words of love

Without passion

But deeply felt

We would be seperated

For a time unknown

The Rio Grand flows quietly

Within its’ banks

The walls of the canyon

Reach up to a clear blue sky

How to find this thing called love

Where is it

Like the pot of gold

At the end of the rainbow

Is it just out of reach

Do we declare

Ourselves to be seekers

On an eternal quest

Seek true love

Fly in unison

Become dark clouds

Scavenge the earth

Uncover hiding places

We are the heart’s

Lonely seekers

We don armor

For protection

Against weather

And disappointments

November 14, 2011 PAD Challenge Day 14

PAD Challenge Day 14, prompt: death.

Death
Footsteps silent
Suddenly you is here
All around

Frail, seriously ill
Announcing end of life

The path is worn deep
Over time many feet
Have walked this pathway

Our stay is brief
When all is said and done
Just a visit really
Not here for a long time
But instead a brief time

Mother dear
Ashes wet by tears
It is only right to grieve
A life well lived
To say good bye
One last time

Space left empty
By your leaving
Empty for all times
Cannot be filled by another

_________
Magpie Tales

Chairs

Mother
You stand among empty chairs
A young girl

That once you were

You stand looking back
Over your shoulder

Waiting

Perhaps those
Who went before
Are seated in the chairs
Just out of the picture

The chairs
Also seem to be waiting
Waiting for us in our turn
A lovely metaphor
Reunited in death
