The Deepest Connection
(The Artist in Her Studio)

Tap root
Dive deep
Dig down
Seek

Lights and darks
Colors on a wheel
Texture – smooth to rough
Line and such
Blights to dull
Shapes to delight

Dive deep
Hold on
Seek some more
Explore
Take a sounding
Mark four

Dig down
Risk it all
Satisfy the hunger
Clocks broke
Day’s end
Without conclusion
Tomorrows a new day
Try again

Seek
The journey is long
Made up of days
A lifetime to be sure
Illusion of time stops
It seems you just get started
Rolling downhill
Sun sets in the west
Day’s done
The sun rises
Begin again

Questions of the Day
From front door
Across the portal
To studio
I leave no tracks
Morning begins
At the edge
Of a new day

Files heaped upon my desk
A mess
Waiting to become
Uncluttered
Arranged
Organized

Each day
A complex dance
Choreographed by me
The morning still
Except for the little fly catcher
Screaming for
 his…or her
partner
 (Gender unknown
To me)

Each day
I wander
The studio
My enchanted forest
Like a class-room
Of my own design
Lessons drawn from life

Black tar to
pale gaseous colors
Greyed
Gradual change
Gives direction

Each completed work
Simply answers
The questions of
The day

Prompt: tracks, edge, files, lie, mess, complex,
gas, forest, still, pale, answers, class

The Widow Sits by the Window
Paint, painted, painting
A world of color
A carefree spree
Insider, outsider
Who is to say
Who uses the paint

The widow sits by the window
Remembers intimate moment
Written on the heart
Held in the body
Personal landscape
A Vermeer painting

Her life a fearsome
Still life
Since he went away
The studio her reserve
The part that is her own
To use the paint
As she chooses

Prompt: paint, use, sprees, outsider, away, fearsome,
part, reserves, body, intimate, writt
