Childhood of the Day
The first hour of light
The sun having cleared
Taos Mountain
A soft blue-grey
Deeper blue near the horizon
A pink band above
Like the inside of a shell
Washed ashore
Lonely
Forgotten
Standing in silence
Thunder forgotten
Vows given
No excuses
Quiet anticipation
Awaiting the shift
The day promised
Becoming
An umbrella of abstractions
Joined sunshine and shadows
360 degrees
An inheritance of inspiration
Nicely done…I really enjoy the likening of that band of pink to the inside of a seashell and your progression from there is wonderful. 🙂
Isn’t Mother Nature a beautiful thing when she is at her best. This is such a gentle description of the new day waking the world. Lovely.
May you, and all of us who write, always receive the inheritance of inspiration. Your writing today is lovely, soft and glowing…like an autumn sunrise over the mountains…

I love the idea of morning being a kind of childhood..like a chance at new beginning..or at least new learning..love the pinks and blues also..very painterly..jae x
I enjoy your comparison of a sunrise to the inside of a sea shell. Nature holds so many surprises if we just take a breadth of a moment to look.
I thought for sure my porch bird nests would be empty and yet I saw some returning to them this morning. Bird song while getting logs for a fire… *sigh*
I’m here…with some calm (towards the end of the verse…)

Wonderful opening lines that draw us in and allow us to see and feel, actually participate in your experience. Love the idea of dawn being the childhood of the day. Exquisite Annell,

I love your comparison of the sky’s colors to the inside of a shell. This is a gorgeous write, Annell.
Beautiful… especially: An inheritance of inspiration
what a promise of poetry….
A lovely poem! Early morning is one of my favorite times of day. The pink in the sky does look like the inside of a shell; what a beautiful connection. And I loved “umbrella of abstractions.”
Excellent words and picture!
