Through a Special Lens
We can see the pattern of our lives
There may be nothing
Ethereal about each day
Instead
Ordinary
And yet….
Just the thought of you
Could cause the spangling to begin
You fold your life into an exquisite origami
Without complaint
Nor regard to aches
The perfection of the boy
Hopes and dreams
Of yesterday
Shelved
We shimmy into
Our own dragon suits
If you could
You would have taken
The ferment from me
Reworked the pattern
To abstraction
At last
We sang the coda
Together…
Apart
As with any crossing
There was a silence
In the middle
Of the cacophony
* Note: For one I only knew through the words of his Father. And yet, I loved him dearly. He filled the hearts of all who truly knew him.
I so love this – one of your best, Annell. Love the dragon suits. And the closing lines are perfection.
nice images in this…the folding life into origami, the dragon suits and i just love the closure with singing the coda together..nice..
spangling..what a great word..to be spangled by someone..like a banner..often happens at a distance..great loves maybe so because they are not dragged down by the everyday patterns? Wonderful whirl..Jae
Yes, the words were good, especially good. This is the first year anniversary. Thanks Jae. Annell Livingston HC 74 Box 21860 El Prado, NM 87529

I feel a strong emotional pull to this poem. Thank you for it. I shall now rereread it. Like Jae, I like the way you spangled.
There is so much beauty in the ordinary life spent with loved ones. I especially like-

Beautiful thoughts. To have touched you as deeply, it must have been special.
i like the contrast in singing the coda together, yet apart…that is deeply felt…and hugs for the anniversary…
“We shimmy into our own dragon suits” I love that, Annell. A wonderful contribution to the wordle.

Like other have said, I like the images in this and it is neat that you had a real person in mind. By they way, the photo at the head of your blog looks like the storm photo on Pamela Sayer’s blog. Neat photo here on your blog I think.
I love the dragon suit image, Annell. This is a beautiful tribute rich with images.
Beatifully written Annell, full of emotion and deep deep feeling. Sorry for my long absence. I’m working toward improvement. I especially love the dragon suits,
Elizabeth

I like the ending-the silence in the middle of the cacophony. A good write, Annell.
How often do we fold ourselves to fit others needs before our own… That is what I thought of when I read this line. And reading your notes…the respect to an unknown…My husbands fathers’ father fits that bill. Well respected, and truly I think because of him I was embraced by my husbands family.
